Composed by Mehrdad Pakbaz
Dialogue expresses my inner passion for my homeland’s folklore music and the inspiration it grave to depict western musical structures and harmonies to Iranian musical traditions. My intention wasn’t to arrange or harmonize commonly used melodies but rather a very personal and free interpretation of the rich Persian musical literature.
The album title refers to a sweet and fruitful collaboration with a dear friend (Hossein Hamidi playing the Duduk) in which two different instruments from different cultures built up an improvised dialogue, a kind of dialogue which might also be heard in other pieces from an aesthetic view.
Special thanks to Hossein Alizadeh, Hossein Hamidi, Ramin Sadighi, Christophe Rezai, Reza Asgarzadeh, Ali Boustan and Peter Soleimanipour who were always a great support to me.
With all my love, I dedicate Dialogue to my parents Parvaneh Etemadi and Roueen Pakbaz.
